Dear reader, I am so excited to welcome you to my first monthly newsletter!
What you won't find here…large shopping hauls, cheap Amazon dupes (other than the occasional wardrobe tool find!) and an over abundance of affiliate links.
What you will find here…curated edits of only things I would personally buy or recommend to clients, easy styling inspiration and mindful shopping tips so you can style before you buy, along with some life updates so we can stay connected on a more personal level :)
My monthly newsletter will be delivered the first of each month and I’ll share additional posts in between when I can for anything else on my mind!
So lets dive into the 5 things on my mind for the month of May…
5 products I'm loving for Spring/Summer that I think can be a versatile favorite in any wardrobe!
I always look for timeless pieces that can be worn different ways, both casually and more dressy. They may feel quite modern and refined but pair with a leather jacket and you get edgy or pair with wide leg flares and suede and you get a bit of bohemian vibes. That's the beauty of neutral pieces - they stay relevant and authentic to you depending on how you style it!
1// Alex Mill Britt Work Jacket (a great modern update to the denim jacket) 2// Madewell Handwoven Leather Tote (the perfect textured bag for Spring but can also transition into the Fall - fill it with kids snacks or a laptop!) Also, if you are on a budget, I quite like these. They are plastic but handwoven from Mexican artisans. 3// COS Rib Knit Vest (simple, modern, chic and oh-so-versatile - key is to unbutton as shown for additional styling options) 4// Madewell Harlow Short (a brand favorite - love the structured short for an easy polished look; the longer length is great if you typically shy away from shorts) 5// Dolce Vita Reyes Ballet Flat (a white shoe makes a subtle statement and I love this modern shape)
4 ways to style the finds that hopefully provide some new ideas and inspiration to try within your own closet!
3 mindful shopping tips as you start to browse and shop the new Spring/Summer collections
1. Always start in your wardrobe first! Carve out some alone time with your closet. I like to make it a self-care night by lighting a candle and having my favorite show in the background (and snacks!). Pull out your favorite pieces or looks that you wore last Spring and try them back on and remember why you loved them! Start to mix and match with new or juxtaposed items to create additional looks. If you keep “wishing” that you had a certain piece when trying on these looks, that might be a wardrobe gap so add it to your shopping list! **extra tip: If you don't do this already - start to take selfies whenever you have an outfit on that you love or feel good in and save it to a folder on your phone to jog your memory! Sometimes you are the best inspiration :)
2. Create a mood board If you aren't sure what your style is or what to shop for, go on Pinterest and create an inspiration board using aspirational keywords (ie: minimal chic, relaxed style, casual everyday). Try to find themes that continue to pop up - maybe its an oversized button down shirt or a minimal neutral sandal. Add this to your shopping list as a reminder of items you know can help execute your personal style vision.
3. Start your wishlists now Mindful shopping is all about strategy! When we don't have a strategy, we get overwhelmed and succumb to impulse shopping and unproductive purchases. With your shopping list in hand, you can start to curate wish lists by just using the Notes app on your phone (I like to include the image and brand/style name or link), creating a wishlist on your favorite brands sites or you can even use Pinterest to save your finds. Remember, its a marathon not a sprint! Don't feel like you need to buy everything all at once. Prioritize whats most important to you and then you have a list of items you ACTUALLY need and want when sales come around.
2 personal & life updates about me
My husband (Chris) and golden retriever (Ollie) and I have spent the last two years on the road so to speak, living out of suitcases and airbnbs (and my gracious parents home!) trying to find a new place to call home after our many amazing years in California. We are now preparing for our move to Upstate New York! I'm looking forward to spending time nesting, moving at a slower pace surrounded by nature and being part of a community.
Ollie is SO excited to swim in lakes and run through the forests and meet new friends :)
I'm also challenging myself to show up more on social media in my own authentic way - I am naturally a quiet introvert so I have found it to be very overwhelming at times to share for my business on Instagram…which is why I am excited to start on Substack! I feel like its perfect for someone like me who spent much of her childhood scrapbooking fashion magazines and creating tumblr inspiration accounts. What inspires me to keep sharing my POV on all things style and fashion is receiving your positive feedback on how its been helpful as you think about your own style!
