Monthly High-Five // 003
A countdown of five things currently on my mind for the month of July!
Dear reader,
July is upon us…that happened fast! This week is the 4th of July in the States and I’ll be hosting my family for the holiday weekend. I hope those who celebrate get to enjoy some rest and relaxation with loved ones.
I’ll keep this newsletter short and sweet ~
A countdown of 5 things on my mind for this month!
5 pieces I'm loving for this month
4 ways to style the finds that hopefully provide some new ideas and inspiration to try within your own closet!
3 Summer beauty products I’m Loving
Summer is all about bare faces, salty hair and sun-kissed skin!
2 reads that have inspired me
I meant to share this last month but forgot so I’m happy I remembered for this newsletter :)
First is In Kind Magazine
Started by editor colleagues turned friends, Leah Melby Clinton and Hannah Weil McKinley, it’s the kind of thoughtful content I think all of us need more of in our lives! It’s a bi-annual publication touching on the conversations modern women are having about motherhood, friendships, career, ambition, personal style and more. Its the thoughts we may all have had at one point in our life, or are having at this moment, and I have found it both encouraging and inspiring to be able to hear from women who have lived through a similar experience and can offer guidance and different insights and perspectives. Here’s the list of topics covered in the last issue:
You can order the publication here or read their newsletter here.
Second are a few Substack articles I have saved recently!
Boring Girl Summer - All about embracing the luxury of boredom!
Forget about your phone. Find it floating around the junk drawer in the kitchen three days later when you go to look for matches.
Arrive at the farmers market thirty minutes early to chat with your neighbours and take home the best heirloom tomatoes in town.
Spend all day preparing a meal. Make it completely from scratch. Touch, smell, taste, and visually admire each ingredient.
Ridiculous Little Things - I love the interviews exploring personal style and self-discovery. This is with one of my favorite stylists, Dione Davis. She speaks about her mom as an influence:
My mother is very elegant. She would always go to school pick-up in a really beautiful high-waisted trouser and an elegant blouse, and people were like, “You have two young kids running around. Why are you dressed like that?” and she's like, “It's for me.”
Level Up With One Simple Habit Shift - I have followed Shira Gill for many years. Her minimalist and practical approach to creating more simplicity has always been an inspiration. I love this approach to just take up one simple habit in the mornings (or evenings if you prefer!). When we think about change, it doesn’t need to be this huge overhaul. The micro changes compound into greater impacts over time. From a style perspective, I would offer one little shift that help bring more ease into your day. Maybe it’s carving out 10 minutes each day to:
Play in your closet and decide to put on an outfit because you CHOOSE to wear it
Putting away the pile of clothes in your room back into their place in your closet
Looking at your calendar and planning your outfits for the week
Steaming/ironing your clothes for the week, or before they go back into the closet, so they are fresh and ready to wear next time
1 question I’d love to ask you
I usually end with a quote I am inspired by but today, I wanted to ask you 1 question regarding your own style (ok, so its actually two!):
Macro Moment (past)-What changes in your life made you rethink, or want to up-level, your style most?
Micro Moment (present)- In what moments are you (or were you) most aware of not having the style you want in your daily life?
I would love to hear from you - No answer is too silly, embarrassing or non-useful! Feel free to drop your macro/micro moment in the comments or if you prefer, you can reply to this email or send me a message ❤️
I hope you have a lovely month of July!
xx

I saw that same clay charm necklace on Etsy and I am smitten with it. I wish she made other variations with different cities (like a Parisian one, Grecian, etc.).
Love those Deiji Studios pants! Great article, thanks so much Angie! 🌼
